I am Executive Pastor at Coastline Community Church in Melbourne, Florida, a fast-growing non-denominational church built on a new model of doing church. I am married to my college sweetheart, Joan. We are the proud parents of 4 extraordinary adult children who have given us 8 (soon to be 9) adorable grandchildren.
Prior to joining the Coastline staff in 2013, I served as Lead Pastor of two churches, one in Ohio and one in Virginia for a total of 28 years. That was followed by five years of working in the corporate world, an experience that considerably altered my perspective of church life. Being a church attendee is way different from being a church leader!
This is my personal blog. It is focused on the organizational side of church leadership. I am convinced that new models of church are needed in today’s rapidly changing world. I aim to help forward-thinking church leaders understand how excellence in organization design can improve ministry effectiveness.
In addition to over 30 years of church leadership experience I have a doctorate in organizational leadership. My doctoral concentration was in strategic foresight. I love to apply foresight principles to organizational thinking. Leaders that have an eye on emerging trends have an advantage over those who only react to unexpected changes. Though I have been thinking about this topic a lot, for a long time, I am a new blogger. I am looking to gather and lead a tribe of church leaders who want to excel in the organizational side of church life.
I plan to post three times a week. To make sure you don’t miss my newest posts, you can subscribe via e-mail. Please share this link with anyone you think might have an interest in joining the conversation.
